User Management

Only admins can manage users. All user management is done from the Warden dashboard.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Users
  2. Click Create User
  3. Fill in the required fields:
    • Username — must be unique
    • Password — minimum 8 characters
    • Role — select from Admin, Editor, Viewer, or Status Viewer (defaults to Viewer)
  4. Click Create

The new user can immediately log in with their credentials.

The Users page shows all accounts with:

  • Username and display name
  • Email address
  • Role
  • SSO provider (if linked)
  • Date created
  1. Navigate to Settings → Users
  2. Find the user and change their role from the dropdown

Restrictions:

  • You cannot change your own role
  • You cannot demote the last remaining admin — there must always be at least one admin

When changing a user from Status Viewer to any other role, their status page assignments are automatically removed since they now have full dashboard access.

See Roles & Permissions for details on what each role can do.

Status Viewers can only see status pages that are explicitly assigned to them by an admin.

To assign status pages:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Users
  2. Find the Status Viewer user
  3. Select which status pages they should have access to
  4. Save

A Status Viewer with no assigned pages won’t see any status pages.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Users
  2. Find the user and click Delete

Restrictions:

  • You cannot delete your own account
  • You cannot delete the last remaining admin

When a user is deleted, all of their active sessions are immediately invalidated.

When Google SSO is enabled and auto-provisioning is configured, new users are automatically created when they sign in with Google for the first time. These users:

  • Are assigned the Viewer role by default
  • Have their display name, email, and avatar populated from their Google profile
  • Do not have a password set (they can only log in via SSO unless an admin sets one)

Admins can change the role of SSO-provisioned users just like any other user.
