Password Recovery
Choose the option that matches your situation. These steps are for local Warden accounts. For an SSO account, reset the password with your identity provider.
Another administrator can sign in
Section titled “Another administrator can sign in”- Ask that administrator to open Settings → Users.
- Open the menu beside your account and select Reset Password.
- Set a new password and sign in again.
Resetting a password revokes that user’s existing sessions.
No administrator can sign in
Section titled “No administrator can sign in”Use Warden’s reset-password command. It connects directly to the database and does not start an HTTP server.
- Run the command where the Warden binary and database are available.
- Use the same
DB_TYPE,DB_PATHorDB_URLas your installation. - Replace
adminbelow with the local account’s username.
Docker: replace YOUR_CONTAINER with your Warden container name.

./warden reset-password adminEnter the new password twice when prompted. Input is hidden. Use at least eight characters, one number and one special character. Do not put the password directly in a shell command, where it can be saved in history.
Sign in with the new password. Existing sessions for that account are revoked. If the command cannot find the user or database, check that it uses the same database configuration as the server before trying again.
